This is a classic Rhone blend that was made famous in the Côtes du Rhône region of France. It combines the lighter tasting Grenache with its fruitiness to the heavier, bigger flavors of the Syrah and Mourvedre. This medium to full bodied wine first strikes your nose with the smells of dried flowers, such as roses, then gives way to berry fruit smells. Because of the lightness of the Grenache, the first flavors you will taste are of candied fruit, followed by darker fruits such as plum or blackberry that come from the Syrah. The strong, but smooth finish comes from the Mourvedre, which is similar to the Syrah. It is held together by medium tannins which give it its structure.
